Saturday, February 12, 2022 marks the return of the Mexico Beach Farmers & Craft Market. It will be held the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month from 9am to 1pm CT at Parker Park (2500 Highway 98), and you can buy hand-made soaps, art, fresh produce, and more. It’s put on by the Special Events for Mexico Beach, and all proceeds will fund the Best Blast on the Beach 4th of July fireworks show.
When we set out to decorate our vacation rental home in 2017, I wanted a piece of art to hang over the tub in the master bathroom. I knew exactly what I wanted—a simple beach theme painted on reclaimed wood. After taking measurements of the spot where it would hang, I kept my eyes peeled for the right piece.
We walked to the Mexico Beach Farmers & Craft Market at Parker Park from Sand By Me one Saturday morning to shop for local art for the house. Passing by one vendor’s booth, I spied a piece that was modestly propped against the leg of the table he was using to display his wife’s art. We walked by it, but I had to double-back, because this item perfectly mirrored the vision in my mind’s eye. It was exactly the right size and colors, it only set me back $30, and it’s now my favorite piece of art in the entire house.
If you stay at our vacation home, Sand By Me, you’ll be walking distance from all of that awesomeness. And, who knows? Maybe you’ll also find exactly what you’re looking for.
